It's
the eve of St. Patrick's Day. I have resolved a buggy
software problem (by
replacing it with something else)
and am again able to edit these pages and resume the building
task on the WC/DMR Family website.
Re: Celtic graphics see site notes.

Here
you will read what is going on with the site & the different
families. Items will be dated (latest first) and linked
to the appropriate pages as needed.

We
had a lovely visit with the west coast relatives. I
can't add much to Uncle George's summary of the weekend.
It's always nice to see family and we had a great time.
Dianna has moved to Federal Way which is about 10 minutes
south of us so I expect we will be seeing more of her
these days. She, along with Mary, Tricia (Brian's half
sister), my brother Tom and family did join us on St.
Patrick's Day for a big party we had at our house. I
tried to convince Dianna to bring her harp for some
Irish sing alongs - but she said it doesn't travel too
easily. We had a good time nonetheless.

Uncle
George sends these highlights from last weekend's west
coast reunion.
Kip
had an elder hostel ski weekend at Mt. Hood and on the
last day Ralph, Claire & son Alden joined her on the
slopes.
They
all returned to Claire's new house and on Saturday 3/11
joined with: George & Doris - Elizabeth with sons Andrew
and Dennis - Mary who rode down from Seattle with Brian
in his new bright red Viper (Brian works with a bank
and we suspect the auditors are hot on his tail) - and
Dianna came down for the day as well.
It
was Shayna's 3rd birthday and the party was a hoot.
Shayna had a tad too much candy and too many presents
as you would expect. We had take-out Chinese for supper.
The
new Horowitz house is having its kitchen remodeled so
no stove, kitchen sinks, etc. As of today the 18th,
they still await the cabinets, counter tops et al. At
least they have a beautiful view to look at from their
empty room.
The
cousins stayed over on Sat. night at Claire's old house
just a few blocks away and toughed it out with sleeping
bags on the floor. We understand the ghost stories kept
Alden, Andrew and Dennis up most of the night.
Breakfast
was on Kip at a local place after which we flew back
to the east coast. There was some talk of a tour of
Portland though Eliz or Mary will have to update you
on that.
Keep up the good work on the whitesite.

Hi,
Just
checked the Whitesite. Haven't had a chance to do that
in a long time. It all looks great to me. It was nice
to read all the messages from the nieces and nephews,
especially the ones I never get to see any more.
Here's
an update on the Rose side of the family:
Charlie's daughter, Lindsay, is doing quite well. She
came out of the hospital the day before Thanksgiving
and is five months old now. She looks a lot like her
big sister, Meredith. However, because of all that she
went through in ICU, she has little interest in drinking
from a bottle.Lindsay
will drink some from the bottle, but not enough, so
she is still being fed through a tube.
Her
prognosis is good, and the doctors say she will be able
to lead a normal life. She is bright and alert and very
strong. She's a beauty! And Charlie and Suzy are coping
very well.

Cathy
is getting married in July, so we are in the midst of
wedding preparations. Thanks for all your work on the
site, Richard. One day I'll get organized enough to
send you some old pictures and Mom's memoirs.

Happy
St. Patty's Day to all. Thanks for the family updates.
We have a new daughter who can be added to the family
list...we adopted Kayla Elizabeth this past September.
She is now 9 years old.
I
couldn't figure out how to get into the email list.
Is there a way to open up the list? Thanks for your
hard work.
Cousin,
Sha

- Besides the Tree
page itself, There is no other list to open. The
email addresses are hyper linked directly from the
icons. Read on.
Email
: Maybe this is a good moment
to go over the way the Family Tree
and email quick links page is designed to work.
Keep in mind that there are 35 or so family members
on email so there are probably 25 different configurations
of browser and email. I will describe how it works for
me (Netscape browser and Eudora email) and hope that
you can make it work similiarly. Don't hesitate to ask
for help if this is all greek or if it just doesn't
work for you. It is a big help for me in improving the
design of these things if I can get a feel for how the
pages "play in Peoria".
The
family Tree list that appears on the Tree
page includes
these two icons -
and
- for linking to folks who have email and websites respectively.
You should be able to mouse click on the
and bring up an email screen allowing you to compose
and send a message to that person. Try it here
.
That
should have brought up an email screen to send a message
to cousin Richard. If not it means that your browser
is not set up to launch email form the web and you may
need to lasoo a cousin or daughter to help you set this
up. Let me know if you remain stuck at this stage. If
you do write with questions tell be about your email
and browser programs and the internet service that you
use.
Another
aspect of this feature is that having launched the email
box from a link (in netscape for example) you can use
menu "special/make address book entry" or
"ctrl+k" to put this address in your email
address book. Other browsers like I.Explorer and AOL
should have similiar features. Look for them or ask
a more experienced user.
Good
Luck

Happy
St. Patrick's Day clan. We have received a
number of snail- and e- mails since last we updated these
pages and much winter and family activity has transpired.
Apologies for the unplanned hiatus. I think we're back
in business now so keep those cards and letters coming.
Aunt
Vee is doing well with her new hip. We visited with her
last weekend and she continues in very good spirits.

We're
having a mini West coast reunion this weekend in Portland
at Claire & Ralph's. Kip, George & Doris, Mary Auryansen
and Brian White as well as all the Chayers will be there.
I'm hoping Dianna makes it down too but haven't heard
yet. We'll send you an update of the weekend's activities.
Should be fun. I guess I haven't seen the photo of Grandpa
you have on the whitesite in recent years. I have to
get a photo of Brian to you. Holy Smokes! The resemblance
is uncanny! No question where Brian got his genes!

We
also heard from Steve Chayer who likes this website so
much that he wants to start one for the Chayers and was
asking about the ways and means of putting such a project
together. Thanks for the compliment Steve and good luck
with your project.
